Wow.  This is a stellar list of speakers and activities, such as Hemant Mehta, PZ Myers, Jessica Alquist, Dan Barker, etc.  Not sure that I can commit to it, but I have my eye on it…

Nearly all churches have figured out how to (further) take advantage of taxpayers by enrolling themselves as tax-free 501(c)(3) organizations under the tax code.  Tax-free housing, tax-free payroll, tax-free income, tax-free parking…well, pretty much tax-free everything.  However; under section 510(c)(3) of the tax code, they are expressly prohibited from engaging in biased political activity.

Yet everyone knows who was responsible for California’s bigoted Proposition 8…the catholic church, and the LDS church (mormons).  Who is responsible for the ongoing attacks on women’s rights?  Who is responsible for continuing bigotry against gays?  Who is responsible for the draconian “morality” laws?

Don’t answer, it is a rhetorical question.  Yet…these bastards get to do it on the taxpayer dime, and they brag about it.  I already posted on their insertion into all military branches, and now I see they are actively organizing for the 2012 election season.  Unreal.

This conglomerate of religious jackholes is flaunting their disregard openly.  How about doing something about it?

Join a growing movement of bold pastors preaching biblical Truth about candidates and elections from their pulpits on October 7, 2012.

Very nice collection from our online atheist community. Thanks to all.

Nice!  Especially for those of you in the western Colorado area.

This is sponsored by “Humanists Doing Good” and is occurring in Grand Junction on July 21st.  It is an all day affair, but the best part….wait….IT”S FREE!!!!

Hopefully see you there!

PZ Myers put this video up today, which appears to be a compilation put together by the Military Religious Freedom Foundation.

I cannot believe how proud they are to announce that they proselytize all over the world, on the U.S. Government dime. Unreal.

I live roughly 15 miles, as the crow flies, from the Little Sand fire, here in Colorado.  The situation is pretty dismal: temperatures are the hottest of the year and rising; humidity is negligible; the winds continue to pick up speed; and there is no relief in the foreseeable future.  I must say…things are getting a bit hairy around here.

These types of situations predictably breed the vocalizations of the local religiously insane.  “Pray for rain!”  “Pray for the wind to stop!”  “Pray for the fire to die out!”  ….and I can hear it already: “Thank you Jesus for stopping this fire!”

Uggghhh.  This crap really gets under my skin.  Allow me to remind everyone that praying has never resulted in a single instance of divine assistance, or any measureable change in circumstances whatsoever.  Just ask the States of Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Iowa, Arizona, and the other whackadoo executive and legislative bodies of government that recently felt the need to waste their time partaking in such nonsense.  Instead of pretending like you are doing something by praying, I suggest that you really do something, like filming the contents of your house and preparing your family for the unfortunate possibility of evacuation.

Allow me to further remind you that when this fire is put out, it certainly won’t be due to some imaginary skydaddy.  Credit should be given where credit is due….to the 175 plus firefighters currently on the ground, the air support, the red cross assistance, the emergency responders, and all who actually put the damned thing out.

I don’t know how many more times I can listen to this mumbo jumbo.  I am certainly open to suggestions on how to respond to people telling me to pray.  The first numbskull that thanks Jesus when it is all over just might get a piece of my mind.
